<br />MVSD Update (5/16/06) - Page 1 of 1 <br /> REQUEST FOR HRA DISCUSSION <br /> <br />DATE: 5/16/06 <br />ITEM NO: 9.a. <br />Staff Approval: Agenda Section: <br /> CB DISCUSSION <br />Item Description: Presentation on Redeve lopment Plan for the Mounds View School <br />District owned site at 2959 Hamline Avenue <br />1.0 BACKGROUND <br /> <br />1.1 The Mounds View School District completed the relocation of their offices at 2959 <br />Hamline Avenue within other existing school spaces in 2005. Over the past 2 years, the <br />Distinct has been evaluating several proposals for the redevelopment of their site. IN <br />April, the district chose a developer for the site that includes medium density small lot <br />single family housing. Any housing development on the site would require a rezoning <br />from business to residential and the comprehensive plan be amended from low-density to <br />medium density residential. <br /> <br />a. Current Site Characteristics: <br />i. Site Size – 3.32 Acres <br />ii. Zoning – B-1 <br />iii. Comprehensive Plan Designation – Low-Density Residential (up to 4 <br />units per acre) <br /> <br />1.2 Representatives from the Mounds View School District and the proposed developer will <br />provide a summary of redevelopment plans for the site. The district is requesting HRA <br />input regarding the proposed land uses and e xplore options for providing units affordable <br />to working families. <br /> <br />4.0 SUGGESTED HRA ACTION: <br /> <br />4.1 No specific action is requested.
