Roseville Neighborhood Connections Program <br />Draft - 2003 <br />Mission Statement: <br />The Neighborhood Connections program strives to promote resident participation, unity <br />and pride in all neighborhood blocks by becoming self reliant and taking an active role <br />in improving the quality of life within neighborhoods in the City of Roseville. <br />Program Purpose: <br />The purpose of the Neighborhood Connections Program is to promote the exchange of <br />ideas, information and concerns between and among neighborhoods. The City of <br />Roseville staff will assist in the exchange of ideas and information as necessary. <br />Neighborhood Connections helps to educate residents regarding the City’s Neighborhood <br />Enhancement Program, promotes neighborhood pride and contributes to “Good <br />Neighborhood” attitudes. <br />How the program works? <br />It is the goal to increase dialogue with the City representatives dealing with the <br />neighborhood watch programs, recycling and housing and code improvement with <br />residents. In addition, it is the goal to increase dialogue between residents in a “get to <br />know your neighbor” atmosphere. The Neighborhood Connections Program is a work in <br />process. Roseville staff will hold neighborhood meetings to gain input and assistance in <br />the development of the program. Meetings with neighborhood representatives will be <br />done to develop positive communication and sharing of ideas. Information that the City <br />can provide to neighborhoods includes the age of homes, history of area, number and age <br />of residents, value of home in the neighborhood, improvements in the area and city <br />services available. <br />What are the program values? <br />Courtesy is emphasized throughout the program in order to ensure at all times that people <br />are considered more important than any idea. The Neighborhood Connections Program <br />promotes being a Good Neighbor. <br />Being a Good Neighbor means: <br />helping preserve a sense of community and neighborhood <br />caring and respect for each other <br />valuing home and family quality of life <br />interacting and understanding who is living in your neighborhood and what issues <br />and changes are happening in your neighborhood and community <br />having a watchful eye for suspicious activity <br />helping others in need <br />Accepting and embracing growing diversity and cultural differences. <br /> <br />
