DANGEROUS ANIMAL REGISTRATION; 50116 D. REGULATION <br />OF DANGEROUS ANIMALS; AND ADDING 50116 F. NOTICE OF DANGEROUS ANIMAL <br />DETERMINATION; AND 50116 G. APPEAL OF DANGEROUS ANIMAL DETERMINATION <br />THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE ORDAINS: <br />SECTION 1: Title Five, Section 501.16 of the Roseville City Code is amended to read as follows: <br />A. Definitions <br />HEARING OFFICER means an im�artial em�lovee a�ointed bv the Citv, or an im�artial �erson retained bX <br />the Citv, to conduct a hearin� under this Ordinance. <br />B. Dangerous Animal Registration <br />2. The City will, upon application by the Owner, issue a certificate of registration to the Owner of a dangerous <br />animal if the Owner presents evidence that: <br />b. ' <br />> > <br />°r�, ;N� r�;„� ^�+'�° r°° °^�+'�° a^„�°r^„� ^ ^'; a warnin� si�n provided bv the Citv, to inform <br />children that there is a dan�erous dog on the �ro�ertv, has been �laced on the animal Owner's �ro�ert� <br />The warnin� svmbol must be the uniform svmbol provided bv the commissioner of public safetv. The City <br />mav char�e the re�istrant a reasonable fee to cover its administrative costs and the cost of the warnin� <br />svmbol. <br />c_the Owner has procured a surety bond issued by a surety company authorized to do business in <br />Minnesota, in a form acceptable to the City in at least the sum of �989 $300,000 payable to any person <br />injured by the animal or, alternatively, the Owner has in place a policy of insurance providing the same <br />protection; <br />5. Tag. The dangerous animal registered under this section must have an a tag <br />containin� the uniform dan�erous do� svmbol, identifying the animal as dangerous, which is affixed to the <br />animal's collar at all times. <br />D. Regulation of Dangerous Animals- <br />3. An Owner of a dangerous animal must notify the City in writing of the animal's death or its transfer ^„� <br />� to a new location within 30 days of death or transfer, and must execute an affidavit of death or <br />transfer as requested by the City. <br />4. An Owner of a dan�erous animal must have the animal <br />sterilized at the Owner's expense. The Owner must provide proof of sterilization of the animal to the City. If <br />the Owner does not have the animal sterilized; within 30 davs of the dan�erous animal determination, the <br />animal control authority � shall seize the animal and have the animal sterilized �at the Owner's <br />expense. <br />_ 6. A person that �� transfers a dangerous animal must notify the �� new Owner that the animal has <br />been identified as dangerous, and must also notify the City in writing, providing the new Owner's name, <br />address and telephone number. <br />7. The City shall seize a dan�erous animal if, after 14 davs after the Owner has notice that the animal is <br />dan�erous, the animal is not validlv re�istered as a dan�erous animal or the Owner has not secured the <br />required liabilitv insurance or suretv covera�e. The Cit�may seize a dangerous animal if any other of the <br />requirements contained in this subdivision have not been met. A seized animal may be reclaimed upon <br />payment of impounding and confinement costs and proof that the requirements of this Ordinance �e have <br />been met. An animal not reclaimed within seven days will be destroyed, and the Owner will be liable for all <br />costs incurred in confining and disposing of the animal. A�erson claimin� an interest in a seized animal <br />mav prevent disposition of the animal b�postin� securitv in an amount sufficient to provide for the <br />animal's actual cost of care and kee�in�. The securitv must be �osted within 7 davs of the seizure <br />inclusive of the date of the seizure. <br />
