GRASS LAKE WATER MANAGEMENT
ORGANIZATION
Minutes of Meeting
October 28, 2004
Roll Call:
Members present:
Jeff DeZellar
Tracy Mogg
Gene Soderbeck
Rouse Farnham
Members absent
Rich Brasch
Staff present:
Mark Maloney -Shoreview Others present
Duane Schwartz -Roseville
The meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m.
Cliff Aichinger, RWMWD
Dick Fowler
Joe Bester, Lake Owasso
Assoc.
Prior to discussing the regular agenda items, the Board members recognized the Lake Owasso
Association members Joe Bester (President) and Dick Fowler (Past President). The Association
wanted to make sure that GLWMO and the City of Roseville was aware of "short-circuiting" occurring
@ Charlie Pond, created by the limited spacing between the inlet and outlet. There was also discussion
concerning water quality data and a desire to have it shared with the Association.
The Board agreed to reorganize the agenda to recognize Cliff Aichinger, Ramsey Washington Metro
Watershed District (RWMWD).
Item D-1 Cliff Aichinger outlined logistical issues that to be addressed to accommodate RWMWD's
role in water sampling. It was pointed out that it may be advantageous to survey each collection site
yet this Fall to determine boat launching locations/types. It was noted that RWMWD didn't proceed
with any of the work previously authorized by GLWMO staff due to the RWMWD Board approval
process and scheduling for 2004.
Soderbeck suggested that priority should be given to bringing trend data for GLWMO-managed water
bodies up to date, and have it conformed to whatever presentation format that RWMWD is
comfortable working with.
There was general discussion concerning the web page and web applications. It was the consensus of
the Board that RWMWD should eventually host/maintain the GLWMO web site, with the technical
advisor(s) forwarding materials as it becomes available. There was also discussion regarding the
likelihood that Shoreview and Roseville might eventually be working directly with RWMWD for
services relating data acquisition interpretation for city managed water bodies. Cliff indicated that his
staff would eventually be able to assist with things like shoreland assessments. There was general
consensus that RWMWD would assuming the role of preparing the Annual Report Cards for both the
WMOs' and cities' efforts. Cliff concluded by indicating that he assign priorities and costs to what he
