April 13, 2010 <br />Item 2 <br />Approve Minutes <br />1 Human Rights Commission <br />• 2 DRAFT -Meeting Minutes -DRAFT <br />3 March 9, 2010 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 Commissioners Present: Chair David Singleton; Vice-Chair Marie Oftelie; Commissioners <br />7 Gary Grefenberg, Liz Jaeger, Thelma McKenzie and Barb Yates. <br />8 <br />9 1. Call to Order: Chair David Singleton called meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. The Clerk <br />10 called the roll. <br />12 2. Approve Minutes of January 12, 2010 <br />13 <br />14 Commissioner Barb Yates moved and Commissioner Liz Jaeger seconded approval of the <br />15 .lanuary 12, 2010 minutes. Motion passed unanimously. <br />16 <br />17 3. Staff/Committee Reports <br />18 <br />19 3a. Visions of Success Subcommittee <br />20 <br />21 Commissioner Jaeger reviewed the highlights from the subcommittee meeting. The Committee is <br />22 considering several ways to divide the city into neighborhoods as a way to target outreach. They <br />23 are also working with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights to have a regional conference <br />•24 to raise awareness about human rights. <br />25 <br />26 They are pursuing public relations strategies, including having a monthly human rights column <br />27 in the Roseville Review. The committee asked if they need Council approval to generate revenue <br />28 and to hire an intern. They will follow up with a discussion with the City Manager. <br />29 <br />30 The Committee will meet on March 23 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. They invited other <br />31 commissioners to attend and asked that staff post the meeting in case there was a quorum of <br />32 commissioners. <br />33 <br />34 Commissioner Gary Grefenberg asked for clarification about what constituencies they were <br />35 looking for with the neighborhoods, but the committee was not able to answer that question yet. <br />36 <br />37 3b. Program Planners Subcommittee <br />38 <br />39 Commissioner Marie Oftelie reported that the subcommittee planned to meet on March 15. They <br />40 will work to identify the audience and define messages the commission wants to communicate. <br />41 <br />42 Commissioner Grefenberg provided information about possible intern resources. He said they <br />43 would discuss getting volunteers and City staff involved in help identify neighborhoods. <br />44 <br />~5 3c. Data Geeks Subcommittee <br />6 <br />
