~~G O~`~~~~'~~~4~
Y V
Local Human Rights ~ G
~ Commissions Project Grant n
sya~a~+,car~=~arrn~~ Approved Grant Instructions ~~o, ~~~
Hof ~ ~1~.~HT '~'~t~,oo'~~:
Congratulations on your grant approval. As part of the grant award process, these are
the steps you must follow:
1. Your local commission needs to meet and select a preferred vendor(s) to assist in your
project.
2. Your local commission's chairperson must notify the Minnesota Department of Human
Rights, (the Department) in writing, of your acceptance to the funds and the terms of the
grant no later than March 31, 2009. You can send all correspondence to the attention
of Mario A. Hernandez. The grant agreement you must complete is attached.
3. In the grant agreement, you need to include a brief description of the event/training,
when and where the training will take place, the contract information for the
contractor/vendor(s) providing the services and the contact information for your
commission's "fiscal coordinator" (if you submitted a grant request you already selected
a fiscal coordinator, please send the updated contact information).
4. The Department will contact the contractor/vendor(s) you selected. The Department will
• process all contracts and payments directly with your contractor. In case any problems
arise, you will receive communication from James Kirkpatrick, Deputy Commissioner for
the Department, or his designee, explaining what problems exist with either the vendor
or the services to be contracted.
5. Upon completion of the services and or training, your "fiscal coordinator" will certify that
the training was held as contracted. The fiscal coordinator will include a list of the local
commissioners who attended/participated in the training/event. If your project was a
strategic planning session, please send a copy of your finished product.
6. Upon receipt of your fiscal coordinator's certification of training/event, and an invoice
from the contractor/vendor, the Department will pay the contractor/vendor for services
rendered.
Note: In selecting acontractor/vendor, we recommend that you look at more than one
possible contractor/vendor before making your selection.
If your commission submitted more than one request during this first round of grants and the
project was not selected, please re-apply at a later deadline for another round of mini-
grants. Make sure you follow the guidelines for grant submission. We encourage you to
consider joint projects with neighboring human rights commissions.
If you have any questions, contact the Local Human Right Commissions Project Grant
coordinator, Mario A. Hernandez, by calling (651) 297-5091 or by email at
mario.hernandez(a7state.mn.us.
Local Human Rights Commission Project
A mini-grant program for local human rights commissions
Administered by the Minnesota Department of Human Rights in collaboration with the League of Human Rights Commissions
