Such efforts facilitate both environmental review and associated permit
processes.
Response: The goal of the project is to enhance the water quality of a regionally significant
recreational waterbody. Constructive contributions made by DNR staff has been
useful in designing the project to meet the intended goals while minimizing the local
impact.
Comment: Public education by the GLWMO should be pursued in addition to physical
alteration of existing wetland complexes in order to achieve additional water quality
benefits.
Response: The GLWMO is in the process of developing Lake Management Plans for the
significant recreational waterbodies within the watershed. Public information and
education will likely be a part of the recommended action plan for these basins.
Comment: Efforts should be taken to improve water quality prior to discharge into Unnamed
Wetland 62-280W.
Response: The GLWMO is in the process of developing Lake Management Plans for the
significant recreational waterbodies within the watershed. Additional efforts within
the subwatershed may be a part of the recommended action plan for Lake Owasso.
Comment: The results of this proposal should be regularly monitored to ensure that modelled
water quality benefits actually accrue.
Response: There has been a historical effort to collect water quality data for Lake Owasso
which is anticipated to continue. Examination of this data will be of assistance in
determining the effectiveness of the GLWMO activities.
