Churchill
Roseville, MN 55113
RE: NORTH BENNETT LAKE
Dear Mr. Shearen:
Thank you for your recent letter regarding North Bennett. Lake. North Bennett Lake is located at
the northwest corner of County Road C and Oxford Street. It is connected directly to Bennett
Lake via a pipe under the railroad and County Road C. This pond is within the boundaries of the
Grass Lake Water Management Organization (GLWMO). GLWMO is an additional level of
government formed to manage water resources in the area that generally drains to Grass Lake
north of T. H. 694.
Your request to raise the normal water elevation in North Bennett Lake was discussed by the
GLWMO Board at its April 27, 1995, meeting.. The Board discussed how your proposal fits into
the organization's management plan and how other environmental agencies might view such a
request. Following this discussion, the Board decided that a change in water elevation in North
Bennett Lake was not in keeping with the GLWMO Management Plan. It was also noted that
the approval of permits by other agencies, such as the DNR, would be extremely difficult. As
such, GLWMO is not interested in pursuing this project further.
Thank you, again, for taking the time to write regarding your concern for North Bennett Lake. - __
Your interest in water resources in Roseville and GLWMO is much appreciated. Please contact
me at 490-2226 if you have any questions regarding this matter or would like to discuss it
further.
Sincerely,
Karl P.
