Meet our new chair... <br />r r <br />Home: Lakeland (Washington County) <br />Background: Barbara has served on the BWSR since March <br />1992. She was recently appointed chair, replacing Jim Nielsen. <br />Barbara has served as a member of the Middle St. Croix River <br />Watershed Management Organization for nine years. She has <br />also served as a council member for the city of St. Mary's Point <br />and as acting mayor of St. Mary's Point. Her experience includes <br />working as the deputy clerk for the city of Lakeland. <br />Family: Barbara and her husband, Sanford, have two children. <br />ost important resource issue facing innesota today: Preserving our groundwater and <br />educating people to act to protect it. <br />... • <br />arrell <br />Background: <br />Darrell previ- <br />ously worked <br />for 25 years as <br />maintenance supervisor at Quadna Mountain <br />Resort near Hill City. For the last five years, he <br />has worked as golf course superintendent at a <br />golf course near McGregor. He served as a <br />township supervisor for 17 years and was <br />elected in January 1989 to the Aitkin County <br />Board. He has served on the Environment and <br />Natural Resource Policy Committee of the <br />Association of Minnesota Counties and has <br />also been active in the Big Sandy Area Lakes <br />Watershed Management Project. <br />ost important resource issue facing inne- <br />ota: Protecting our water quality. <br />Family: He and his wife, Sharon, have one <br />daughter, Mindy, who is 20. <br />Le oy <br />Background: <br />LeRoy is a life- <br />long resident of <br />Pipestone <br />County. He has been a farmer for 45 years. He <br />farms com and soybeans.
