~RE~'D ~~~ ~ i l~}96 <br />='i~~ ~~ <br />~?. <br />'Working for the Region, Planning for the Future <br />__^ _~, <br />February ~, 1996 <br />Dear Potential Grant Applicant: <br />The iY~euopolitan Council is pieascd to a-lncurce the tl'il.''d year Gf fu*ldislg for the T~:u*1 Cities dater Quality <br />Initiative (TCQI) grant program. The TCQI grant program is open to public entities including federal, state, <br />county, and city governments, soil and water conservation districts, watershed management organizations, <br />public schools and trade or professional organizations. <br />Grants will be made for both educational and technical projects that relate to nonpoint source pollution <br />management. The maximum grant amount is $100,000 annually, with a requirement of a 2~-percent match of <br />cash or in-land funds. <br />A new category of grants has been added for 1996; block grants of up to $0.~ million for comprehensive <br />projects to reduce nonpoint source pollution at the watershed, or subwatershed level. Grants will be a multi- <br />year approval so the grantees can make a long term committment to reducing nonpoint source pollution. For <br />these grants, the project must be within the geographic azea of four metropolitan area watersheds tributary to <br />the Minnesota River upstream of Shakopee, that. were modeled by the Metropolitan Council (Bevens Creek, <br />Carver Creek, Chaska Creek, or Sand Creek.) <br />An information meeting for potential applicants will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1996, in our <br />offices, 230 E. Fifth St. in downtown St. Paul. Also, an additional informational meeting has been scheduled <br />for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, in the Heritage Room at the Eden Prairie City Hall.
