OF
,-1996
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
Metro Waters, 1 00 Warner Road, St. Paul, MN 55106-6793
Telephone: (612) 772-7910 Fax: (612) 772-7977
Mr. Dan Obermiller
E.G. Rudd & Sons, Inc.
9180 Lexington Avenue NE
Circle Pines, MN 55014
RE: Preliminary Plat Review, Shoreview Woods Development, Snail Lake (62-73P and 62-216W), City of
Shoreview, Ramsey County
De::r Ids. Obern~tter:
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is in receipt of your request for review of the Shoreview Woods
preliminary plat, a single family residential development along the shores of Snail Lake. The project will affect Snail
Lake and other wetlands located in the northeast quarter of Section 23, T30N, R22W in the City of Shoreview,
Ramsey County. Based on our review of the the submitted information, we have determined that the proposed work
is not under DNR protected waters permit jurisdiction, and therefore the project does not require a DNR permit. It is
good to see the ordinary high water (OHW) elevation of Snail Lake depicted on the plans of the project. However,
the elevation that was depicted is incorrect. The correct OHW for Snail Lake is 883.70' (NGVD, 192.9).
If construction involves dewatering in excess of 10,000 gallons per day or one million gallons per year, the contractor
will need to obtain a DNR Appropriation Permit. You are advised that it typically takes 60 days to process the
permit application.
This letter is only a notification of the need for a DNR permit for your proposed project. You should be aware that
your project must comply with federal and local wetland regulations as noted in the brochure "Minnesota Wetland
Conservation Act" (enclosed). The Department may provide additional comments on your project through our
review of applications submitted under these other regulatory programs. Also, we may be commenting on other
aspects of your project, if asked by the City of Shoreview.
Thank you for your cooperation.. If you have any questions, please contact me at 772-7910.
Sincerely,
Molly C.
