Health, Agriculture and Natural
Resources all have representation
on the BWSR, they currently do
not have voting rights. This
initiative would restore those
members to the full voting status
they had on the Soil and Water
Conservation Board (the previous
incarnation of the BWSR).
BWSR Authority to
Accept Grants
This initiative gives BWSR the
authority to accept grants, gifts,
donations or contributions in
money, services, or materials.
Accepting such offers currently
involves a significant amount of
paperwork; this legislation
would merely simplify the
process.
epartment of Natural Resources
eglatory rogra Changes
DNR General Permits for
County Bridge and Culvert
Projects Proceeding
opment of these general permits
is available from the regional or
area hydrologist serving your
locale.
The DNR's Division of Waters
staff has been working with
county highway engineers inter-
ested in developing a general
permit to cover the installation,
replacement and repair of county
highway bridges and culverts. As
of December 1996, 24 counties
have been issued a permit that will
cover multiple bridge and culvert
installations. In addition to saving
the counties funds on permit
application fees, a key feature of
these permits is an annual winter
coordination meeting to review
projects installed during the
previous construction season and
to discuss projects anticipated
during the following year.
Further information on the devel-
New Protected Waters Inven-
tory Maps Now Available for
Counties with Trout Streams
The DNR has completed 47 new
Protected Waters Inventory
(PWI) Maps that now show
tributaries to designated trout
streams and has distributed
copies for public inspection to the
appropriate county auditors,
county engineers, county zoning
offices, county soil and water
conservation district offices,
impacted watershed district
offices and DNR regional and
area offices.
