ennet Lake
Bennett Lake Secchi disk depth has significantly improved over the period of record (p<0.05).
Secchi transparencies have improved dramatically from 1995 to 1997 (Figure BL1). Bennett Lake
would still fail in the hypereutrophic/eutrophic range in terms of Secchi transparency. Chlorophyll
concentrations in Bennett Lake have also improved, but the trend is not statistically significant
(p>0.05, Figure BL2). The trend is significant at the 90% confidence level, however (p<0.1).
Continued sampling may be required to determine a significant trend at 95% confidence. The lake
summer average chlorophyll concentration still falls within the range expected for hypereutrophic
systems, but showed improvement to mesotrophic levels in terms of the 1997 summer average. Total
phosphorus concentration in Bennett Lake has also improved significantly (p<0.05) over the period
of record. Summer average phosphorus concentrations are still indicative of a highly productive (i.e.,
hypereutrophic) system, however (Figure BL3).
grass_lake_intro.doc Page 6 09/27/99
