Category III: These water bodies have lower water quality than Category I and Category II water bodies.
Generally, they are not swimmable but may provide important wildlife habitat or aesthetic qualities.
Warm-water fishing may also be applicable. Examples could include Lake Judy or Willow Pond.
Category IV -Nutrient Traps: Water bodies in this category are intended to improve downstream water
quality and are designed specifically to have phosphorus removal efficiencies of at least 50%. An
example could be Charlie Pond.
Category V -Sediment Traps: These water bodies are typically too small to efficiently remove
phosphorus but are able to remove larger sediment.
Staff recommends that the Board discuss the proposed "Water Body Classification". Based on the Board
discussion, staff will revise the proposed document for Board approval at the next meeting.
RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION:
Motion approving the proposed "Wetland Classification and Management" section;
And;
Discussion of the proposed "Water Body Classification" section.
