privilege of living on the lake. Yet untold numbers of people who don't live on the lake pour in and get more
use and benefit out of the lake than lake residents do without having to pay higher taxes on their property. Tlus
is BS!
• Because the Lake Owasso Association is essentially a ski club, I'm planning to approach the Roseville City
Council to request establishment of a more objective input.
• Thank you for the opportunity for input.
• Living on the lake was long my dream. To live on a beautiful lake like ttus with all of the city conveniences is
wonderful. Beautiful Lake Owasso is good for the soul..
• I live on Lake Wabasso and would like to see some weed control on this lake too.
• Anyone think about dredging anymore? Not the whole lake, maybe just some silt-settling trenches...as in past
on the SW end and in Ladyslipper Park.
• Water lilies have really proliferated in our area since we stopped the spraying program. Is it possible to get
back on? Are there fewer ducks than formerly? Are there any regulations regarding the size of new houses
along the lake front? I guess that is a city thing.
• I'm glad drat we have an active association -thanks for doing this survey!
• I'd like to see ways to limit the numbers of day-users. Large numbers of boaters make the lake dangerous
(Boat Soup). We often leave during weekends and holidays to get away from this. I'd like to see maximum
fines and enforcement on building and shoreline violations. Obviously, no one does anything to keep owners'
selfish and destructive habits in check. I'd like to see limits on building size. I'd like to see incentives for
more trees, natural foliage, etc.
• Ask homeowners to minimize use of any chemicals that may enter the lake through runoff, etc. Anything that
would minimize noise levels on the lake.
• The dock at the boat landing was a good idea -and is helpful to everyone.
• I would appreciate some instructions on preserving my shoreline. A DNR pamphlet I saw was inadequate.
What is the history of Lake Owasso -geological and human settlement?
• Limit the number of boats that can come on the lake at any one time. Over-use is unsafe. Too many at boat
launch will bring milfoil.
• I am concerned about the future of the lake. Having seen lakes `die' in Europe due to over-fertilization from
farm operations/run-off. I am hoping Lake Owasso can be kept relatively intact for the use of future
generations of citizens of Ramsey County (and beyond) and for the landowners around the lake.
• I am very thankful that the Association has actively tried to manage and preserve Lake Owasso.
• We feel it is important to maintain the shoreline structure that is part of the Ramsey County Home facility.
That property adds value and environmental welfare to the lake.
• We have obtained a DNR permit to re-open the existing channel in front of our home. The DNR has indicated
that they will distribute beetles to reduce the growth of purple loosestrife on our shore.
• On Lake Wabasso, individual property owners pay for weed control, while on Lake Owasso, I understand
County pays for a substantial part of it (I pay about $200 per year). There is too much fertilizer being run off
into the lake. That makes the quality of the water very poor for fishing, swimming, etc.
• The sideyard setback for boathouses is not practical for narrow lots. It puts the boathouse right in the middle
of your view. If we can agree with our neighbors, why couldn't we both put them right on the property line
back to back?
• The geese have to go. Their droppings are huge, messy, unsanitary and polluting.
• I guess I have no other comments, its been a great place to live on the lake in Roseville. The only comment
would be to raise the level of the lake in our end and a path to get out through the weeds. Thank you.
• Swimming, canoeing and lake watching do not interfere with any lake use. The more horsepower reduces the
nwnber of people using lake.
• Sometimes it feels like too much of a `good old boys' network on the lake. I think sending out this survey to
get all the views is excellent. I think attempts to control the weeds are good. However, at times it feels like the
views /opinions of well known individuals are the ones listened to
• Lake management is the responsibility of everyone.
• We feel very fortunate to live next to this wonderful resource. Let's preserve it!
• Overall, Lake Owasso is a good lake. The lakewatch program is good as long as you are not getting harassed
every time you go out on a weekend day or weekend evening. Weed control needs to be better.. I've spoken
with my neighbors and their weeds are very bad too.
• I hope the communication and cooperation between the Lake Association, DNR and watershed management
continues.
