January 23, 2001
Bob Bierscheid, Director of Parks and Recreation
1910 County Road B
Roseville, MN 55113
RE: Metro Greenways Planning Grant Application
Dear Mr. Bierscheid:
I understand that you are applying for a Metro Greenways Planning Grant from the
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to complete a natural resource inventory and
management plan for 5 park/natural areas within the City of Roseville. The Grass Lake
Water Management Organization (GLWMO) commends you on your initiative to complete
this plan and supports your grant application to the Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources.
GLWMO is currently completing the preparation of its 2°d generation watershed
management plan. The GLWMO plan contains a great deal of information that may be
useful to you if you receive project funding. The GLWMO plan focuses on water quality
trends in some of the larger lakes and delegates much of the planning responsibilities for
other resources to the Cities of Roseville and Shoreview. Your proposed natural resource
inventory and management plan is exactly the kind of effort we were hoping for!
I am hopeful that your application will be successful and that you will be able to complete
your plan. Please contact me if you would like to discuss GLWMO activities or our
common interest in resource planning..
Sincerely,
~'~
Karl P. Keel
Technical Staff
