GRASS LAKE WATER MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION
AGENDA ITEM
Date:. 2/08/01 Prepared by: Karl Keel Item: E-1
Other Business
Item Description.: Public Hearing on the Draft GLWMO Watershed Management Plan
Most recently, the Draft 2°d Generation Plan was distributed to review agencies for comment. At the
January 4, 2001 meeting, the Board reviewed the comments submitted from four agencies and approved a
memo responding to those comments. The next step in the plan approval process is to hold a public
hearing.
Notices were sent to the same list of people invited to attend the informational meetings last summer.
This list includes standing committees in both Shoreview and Roseville. In addition, notice was
published in the Roseville Review and the Shoreview Press. A press release was also sent to the local
media -- print, television and radio.
For the hearing, Karen Chandler will make a short presentation summarizing the GLWMO Watershed
Management Plan. Following her presentation, it is recommended that the Board hold a public hearing to
solicit public input.
The next step in the plan approval process is to re-submit the revised plan to State agencies for review.
Following the 45-day review period, the plan must be submitted to the Minnesota Board of Water and
Soil Resources (BWSR) for approval (90 days). After BWSR approval, the Board would consider final
adoption of the plan.
RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION:
A motion approving the draft GLWMO Watershed Management Plan, as revised, for distribution to State
regulatory agencies for review.
MOVE: AYES:
SECOND: NAYS:
