The purpose of the meeting was to hear about changes
in statutes and programs that would have a direct impact on watershed districts and watershed
management organizations.
This year a similar meeting has been organized to hear directly from BWSR, MPCA, DNR and the Met
Council about the session, as well as new programs, rules and sources of funding. In addition, we plan
to have the Department of Revenue on hand to explain changes in the property tax system.
There was a lot of positive feedback about the last legislative briefing. It provided an opportunity to
network with and team what other watersheds were doing.
This year, after the agency presentations, we have set aside an hour to discuss the issue of
phosphorus: what happened at the session, what others are doing and where things may go in the
future.
It should be a very informative and enjoyable morning and we hope you will be able to attend. Feel
free to bring other members of your watershed board or staff who may not have received an invitation.
If you have any questions, contact. Andy Gray at, (612) 673-3457 or andy.grayC~ci.minneapolis.mn.us.
We look forward to seeing you. June 26`n
Sincerely,
Bill Anderson
Twin City Metro Area
Watershed Network
