BWSR Meeting Minutes <br />August 23, 2001 <br />Page Two <br />Chair Coe called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Chair Coe thanked Darrell <br />Bruggman for the excellent tour of Aitkin County. Chair Coe also extended the <br />appreciation of the Aitkin County SWCD staff that prepared the tour. Ron Shelito <br />thanked the board for taking the time to tour Aitkin County. <br />** Adopt Agenda -Moved by Jerome Deal, seconded by Sharon Clark, to approve the <br />01-56 agenda as presented. Motion passed on a voice vote. <br />Minutes of July 25, 2001 -Dan Wilson made a change on page four under his report, <br />it should read, "Well samples that come into MDH are done by certified labs which are <br />scattered around the state and information is available on the Internet regarding <br />** certified labs." Moved by Jack Frost, seconded by Char Kahler, to approve the minutes <br />01-5z of July 25, 2001, as corrected. Motion passed on a voice vote. <br />REPORTS <br />Chair Coe reported that he attended the Farm Bill meeting on August 15; Doug Thomas <br />will present information on this later in the meeting today. Chair Coe attended the EQB <br />meeting, which was an informational session. Issues included animal ag GEIS public <br />meetings that will be held statewide; Minnesota Planning has additional information. if <br />board members are interested in attending the public meetings, make note of the date <br />and location on the information distributed. Chair Coe stated that Doug Thomas and <br />Steve Woods represent BWSR on the EQB Technical Committee; Ron Harnack is <br />BWSR's representative on the WRC. Chair Coe reported that an overview of power <br />plant interim rules; and an overview of co-generation "Rapids Power" site were also <br />addressed. If board members are interested in additional information, please contact <br />Chair Coe. <br />Chair Coe reported that there is a new owner of the parking lot adjacent to the BWSR <br />office. Parking tags will be issued; board members were asked to complete a form <br />listing their vehicle information or contact Mary Jo Anderson. <br />Executive Director -Ron Harnack reported that it's good to be back to work after <br />recovering from back surgery; he's hopeful that he will be in full-time status again soon. <br />Ron commended staff on getting things done while he's been out. Ron stated that <br />BWSR will continue the joint partnership with MASWCD regarding the State Envirothon. <br />Knmal Alsharif is BWSR's coordinator on this effort. Ron reported that Governor <br />Ventura has decided to hold a CREP tour on September 6, and hold is radio show in <br />New Ulm on September 7, focused also on CREP. This is a great opportunity to show <br />what BWSR and LGUs have done with partnership efforts. Board members need to let <br />Mary Jo Anderson know if you plan to attend the bus tour. Ron stated that there are <br />two new reissued Executive Orders: 1) wetlands/no net loss; and 2) water unification. <br /> <br />
