A DEM would provide important
data needed for soil mapping, implementing land conservation measures, and watershed
hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and management.
The coalition partners have developed a White Paper that was printed in October 2002. I
am pleased to forward a copy to you at this time. I hope you find it informative. The
paper is also available in the Adobe PDF format at:
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/publications/waters/index html#booklets
Please ask your county Commissioners and your association Boards to pass resolutions
supporting the funding for this effort and forward them to Jim Mulder, Executive
Director of AMC (Association of Minnesota Counties). A draft resolution is on page ] ]
of the White Paper. I made a power point presentation at all ten District Directors
(County Commissioners) meetings in October and the District Directors recommended
that it would be best if each county passed a resolution.
The White Paper has been mailed to County Engineers, Surveyors, and County Zoning
Administrators, County Commissioners who attended the District Directors meetings,
and state/federal agencies.
Sincerely,
DNR WATERS
~~ ~~
O~ ghi Sium, P.E.
Supervisor, Floodplain Management Program
C: Mike Buckley, FEMA
Jim Mulder, Executive Director, AMC
LeAnn Buck, Executive Director, MAS WCD
Ray Bohn, Executive Director, MAWD
DNR Information: 651-296-6157 1-888-646-6367 TTY: 651-296-5484 1-800-657-3929
An Equal Opportunity Employer Ifs printed on Recycled Paper Containing a
Who Values Diversity ~ Minimum of 10 % Post-Consumer Waste
