The city has <br />subsequently saved two weeks and $4,800 on preliminary field work for every road construction <br />project it undertakes. <br />Washington County recently developed ahigh-resolution DEM and found a significant interest <br />in purchasing snaps and digital data by developers, surveyors, engineers, government agencies, <br />and the general public. Washington County uses the elevation data on a regular basis for the <br />following purposes: <br />® Reviewing subdivisions plats <br />® Reviewing mining operations <br />® Bluff line delineations <br />® Cell phone tower siting <br />® Wetland delineations <br />® Flood management control (spring flooding) <br />® Modernizing FEMA flood insurance rate maps (FIRM) <br />® Issuing conditional use permits <br />Landlocked basin studies <br />® Zoning violations <br />® Public Hearings: <br />- Board of Adjustment and Appeals <br />- Planning and Advisory Commission <br />- Plat Commission <br />- County Board Meetings <br />Already, some Minnesota state and local government organizations are benefiting from isolated <br />investments in such programs.
