Rice Street
Shoreview, MN 55126
(651) 484-9104 ®Fax 482-5232
I'm writing in response to your letter of August 4, 2004 requesting Ramsey County place
a high priority on the comprehensive repair of the Lake Wabasso outlet structure. As you
know, we performed some maintenance work last year, which did not entirely stop the
leak.
We believe the remaining leak is caused by voids. in the bank on the west side of the
structure, perhaps caused by muskrat activity. As of last week, water on the lakeside of
the structure was up to the bottom part of the weir with a small volume of water moving
through the west bank of the channel around the structure. Our plan is to stabilize the
bank on the west side of the structure by excavating and placing clayey material with
compaction. This work is to be completed by County Maintenance staff sometime this
fall.
If you would like to discuss this project in greater detail, please contact me.
Sincerely,
.~
enneth Haider, P.E.
County Engineer and Director of Public Works
R~CET~~D AUK 2 5 2QQ~
Minnesota's First Home Rule County
printed on recycled paper with a minimum of !0%post-consumer content
O
