In addition to our Citizen Assisted Monitoring Program (CAMP) for
lakes, which last year monitored 1281akes, the Metropolitan Council is now conducting an
annual census of water clarity for nearly 1000 TCMA lakes.
This census provides an estimate of summer mean. water clarity using satellite imagery. This flyer
provides a broad overview of this program, the methods used, and the results from the 2003
assessment. It also provides contacts and web links for anyone interested in more detailed
information.
The data presented in this flyer will also be added to a regional satellite-based water clarity
database, which is available far download from the MetroGIS Datafinder website
(www.datafinder.ori;).
