sewer connection to Lake Emily. Maloney explained how the water bodies are classified
in both GLWMO and Shoreview Water Management Plans, with Lake Judy being a
Category 3 and Lake Emily being a Category 2. There was discussion regarding the
philosophy of local/City vs. WMO improvements, and it was determined that any
improvements of the Lake Judy outlet and/or floatable or grit removal prior to Lake
Emily would likely be interpreted as a City of Shoreview responsibility.
Soderbeck moved to affirm the GLWMO policy of not participating in costs relating to
water quality improvement for lower category water bodies unless there is a direct benefit
or measurable effect to a Category 1 (WMO-managed) water body, Mogg seconded.
Ayes: 4, Nays :0.
Maloney indicated that he would try to include a project for reconfiguring the Lake Judy
outlet and/or a grit chamber for Lake Emily in Shoreview's Capital Improvement
Program, hopefully for construction in 2007.
D-2 Cliff Aichinger, RWMWD, reviewed his memo outlining recent activities of his
office that relate to the previously agreed upon work program, including public relations,
web site evaluation and water body monitoring for Roseville and Shoreview. There was
discussion concerning a hit counter for the web page and whether or not it would be
possible to determine where the hits were coming from. It was mentioned that there was
a desire to add material to the web page that indicated future meeting dates/times and
archived meeting minutes.
Boardmembers indicated that the next meeting should include areport/discussion from
RWMWD on overall usability of the GLWMO web page and possibly a discussion on
avoiding duplication of City/WMO public education and outreach efforts. It was also
mentioned that the web page could benefit from an update of graphs and trend data.
E. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
Meeting Minutes taken/prepared by Mark Maloney, City of Shoreview
