fi~0 <~~~ ~~i~~
(~ ~ ~ ~g320(~
June 28, 2005
Dear Lake Judy Homeowner:
This is a neighborly request to ask you to work with us to improve the water quality
in both Lake Judy and Lake Emily. As you may know, the overflow from Lake Judy
moves by direct underground storm sewer into Lake Emily. Unfortunately, this
overflow often includes duckweed, algae, and other vegetation. It is our
understanding that Lake Judy has not been treated in recent years, if ever, for these
materials.
Lake Emily has paid to have submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) and algae treated,
every year, for decades. By so doing, we have been able to keep our lake relatively
clean, clear, and useable for our homeowners. Unfortunately, without controlling
the quality of water upstream, every time there is a rainfall of half an inch or more,
Lake Emily quickly becomes the recipient of the effluent from Lake Judy. The 17
Lake Emily homeowners each paid $150 for lake treatments in 2004. We
understand that Lake Judy and Emily are similar in size.
As a homeowner group, would you please consider undertaking a regular treatment
regimen to control SAV and algae? We would very much appreciate your
cooperation in helping to protect our mutual property investments. Lake Emily has
been using the services of Lake Management, Inc., (651) 433-3283 for many years
and has been very satisfied with their service. We recommend them to you.
We would be happy to share our experiences with you and to discuss possible
solutions to this problem. We invite you to visit us for first hand observations of the
favorable effect of treatment on Lake Emily. Please call if you would like our
consultation.
Please let me know your response to this neighbor-to-neighbor request.
Sincerely,
William F. Iacoe
President, Lake Emily Homeowner's Association
(On behalf of member list attached)
