MARK MALONEY - GLWMO Update. Page 1
From: Clifton Aichinger <cliff@rwmwd.org>
To: MARK MALONEY <MMALONEY@CI.SHOREVIEW.MN.US>
Date: 7/20/05 4:56PM
Subject: GLWMO Update.
Board of Commissioners
I and my staff have been working in three project areas in GLWMO.
1. Public Relations.
Attached is a copy of two press releases recently sent to area news
papers. One is a GLWMO only press release version for Roseville Focus
News and the Lillie New Brighton office. The other version is a joint
GLWMO/RWMWD press release for the Lillie North office and the Press
Publications. We will do quarterly and seasonal press releases similar
to this example.
,~' a=
2. Web Site.
We began evaluation and recommendations for the web site, but didn't
get very far since the Shoreview site was down for maintenance and ° ~-
upgrade in late June and there has been a problem with site links since
that time. c, ~-`='~`;,
3. Roseville/Shoreview Category 3 water body monitoring.
On July 20 Eric Korte from my office and myself met with Roseville
and Shoreview to develop a local resource monitoring program as required
in the WMO plan. For the remainder of this year we will be collecting
in-lake samples for Lake EMily and Judy in Shoreview and Bennet Lake and
Willow Lake in Roseville. We will be monitoring for our normal suite of
parameters which is in excess of the plan requirements. In 2006 we
intend to add 2 additional local water bodies in each city. The current
plan is to establish a rotating schedule of monitoring for these local
lakes where we will collect samples every other year unless water
quality concerns indicate the need for more rigorous monitoring
frequency. A annual report will be prepared for each year's activity.
Cliff Aichinger
