Date: 01/27/05 Prepared by: Mark Maloney. Item: D-2
Other Business
Item Description: Shoreview Invasive Aquatic Plant Management Policy
The Shoreview City Council will be considering the adoption of an Invasive Aquatic Plant Management
Policy (see attached) that would provide for City financial participation in homeowner association efforts
manage andJor control Eurasian watermilfoil and Curly leaf pondweed. The proposed policy would
potentially apply to Shoreview lakes having public access; he impacted lakes. in the jurisdiction of
GLWMO include Owasso, Wabasso and Snail.
This policy was developed as a response to a request from Shoreview's Lake Regulations Committee and
has yet to be adopted/approved by the Shoreview. City Council. The topic of aquatic plant management
and its potential relationship to water quality was raised in the development of the GLWMO Management
Plan (2001). The GLWMO Board should be aware of this draft policy and determine whether or not it is
consistent with the Plan's goals for Category l water bodies as defined in the Management Plan.. Any
comments from this discussion will be included with the final report presented to the Shoreview City
Council.
