Watershed citizens understand the importance of water resources and support <br />the Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District's science-based and citizen input- <br />based management decisions. <br />The Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District (RWMWD or District) will adhere <br />to the following core set of principles that will guide their efforts to achieve the above <br />identified vision. The Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District will be: <br />' A leader and innovator in the field of watershed management <br />' Focused on excellence in the delivery of services <br />'~ Focused on results and performance <br />A trusted and accountable spender of public money <br />~` A provider of reliable information to citizens, businesses, and the general public <br />A collaborator with other public and private organizations <br />~` An organization that bases its decisions on reliable information and science <br />An organization that uses past experiences to guide fuhtre decision making <br />Accomplishing the vision requires a focus on common goals that, when realized, will <br />place the use and management of RWMWD water resources closer to the District's vision. <br />The RWMWD will pursue the following goals as a way of proceeding toward the vision: <br />The quality of surface waters is maintained or improved to <br />meet or exceed the water quality necessary to support RWMWD designated beneficial uses. <br />Ecosystems associated with watershed projects and <br />programs are managed to achieve the characteristics of healthy urban ecosystems. <br />-The public is protected from $ooding through measures that <br />ensure public safety and prevent inundation of occupied structures. <br />-The RWMWD considers groundwater protection in <br />management decisions and collaborates with other governing entities responsible for <br />groundwater management and protection. <br />- -Citizens of all ages are educated about water resources <br />(including their use, protection, and management); are involved in resource management <br />programs and decisions, and interact with water resources and healthy ecosystems. <br />-RWMWD is well organized and administered, <br />and water resource management is coordinated among clientele, especially various <br />government jurisdictions. <br />Ramsey-Washington Metro ry... .,'District <br />
