CITY OF SHOREVIEW CITY COUNCIL
andy Martin, Mayor
4600 Victoria Street North, Shoreview, MN 551 Blake Huffinan
(651) 490-4600 Fax (651) 490-4699 Larry Morrisette
(6~ I) 490-4750 Voice/TTY Terry Quigley
www.ci.shoreview.mn•us Ady Wickstrom
July 13, 2007
Grass Lake Water Management Organization
c/o City of Shoreview
4600 Victoria Street North
Shoreview, Minnesota 5512b
RE: -Green Community Awards Program
Dear Contributor:
The City wants to thank you for your support of this new program. The Shoreview
Environmental Quality Committee has received many generous donations, and appreciates that
the GLWMO generously committed to financial support in the amount of $1,000. Please feel free
to send your donation check to the City of Shoreview, to the attention of Mark Maloney, Public
Works Director.
I am happy to report that the response to our first Green Community Awards Program has been
great, with fourteen entries -nine residences for award consideration, and five exhibition-only
homes. The application deadline has passed, and it is now up to the judges to determine which
Shoreview or Lake Owasso residence has used the best water-friendly management practices.
There are specific criteria that the judges will look for in selecting the final residence, and the
lucky winner will be announced at the Slice of Shoreview, the weekend of July 27-29.
A self-guided tour of the homes will take place the weekend of August 4-5. Maps will be
available at the Slice of Shoreview Clean Water booth, at City Hall, or on the City's website @
www.ci.shoreview.mn.us. Just click on What's New.
Mark will see that your contribution is properly credited to this worthwhile program. It is a great
way to stress the importance of land and water stewardship to our residents, and to increase our
awat-eness of the best water-friendly management practices for the community. Residents will
see firsthand the easy and practical steps they can take to help keep Shoreview's water resources
healthy for years to come.
Sincerely,
CITY OF SHOREVIEW
Claudette Chmieleski
Public Works Liaison
