Mr. Mark Maloney
April 21, 2008
Page 5
excludes costs for in-lake water quality monitoring. However, RCPW will bill the GLWMO
directly for the additional in-lake water quality monitoring at the second lake location (5403).
This data will be useful for looking at trends in the historic lake water quality as well as in the
development of the in-lake water quality model. Collecting these data will be especially
important if the runoff and pollutant loading model requires recalibration.
Task 12: Validation/Recalibration of the Runoff and Pollutant Loading Model
using 2008 monitoring data
Expected Cost: $7,265 (by Barr)
In 2007, a P8 watershed model was developed for the Lake Owasso watershed and calibrated to 2007
runoff monitoring data. However, because of the atypical climatic conditions during 2007, there is
some uncertainty if the parameters selected for the calibration are reflective of typical climatic
conditions. The 2008 runoff monitoring data, to be collected under Task 11, will be used to validate
the P8 model developed for the watershed. However, if the runoff predicted by the P8 model for
2008 does not reasonably match the 2008 monitored runoff, recalibration of the P8 model may be
necessary.
Once calibrated, the Lake Owasso P8 model can be used as a tool to estimate the water and
phosphorus budgets of the lake and to evaluate the impact of various climatic conditions as well as
best management practices on the runoff and pollutant loads to the lake.
Task 13: Validation/Recalibration of the in-lake water quality model using
2008 monitoring data
Expected Cost: $7,130 (by Barr)
In 2007, an in-lake water quality model. was developed for Lake Owasso and was calibrated to 2007
in-lake water quality monitoring data. However, because of the atypical climatic conditions during
2007 and the uncertainty in the predicted watershed loads (from P8) to the lake, recalibration of the
in-lake water quality model may be needed if recalibration of the P8 model is required.
Once calibrated, the Lake Owasso in-lake water quality model can be used as a tool to estimate the
sources of phosphorus to the lake anal to evaluate the impact of various climatic conditions as well as
best management practices on the in-lake water quality.
Task 14: Additional Year of Project Management (for 2008)
Expected Cost: $3,385 (by Barr)
This task was included for an additional year of project management, including tasks associated with
billing and invoicing, attendance of meetings, and miscellaneous correspondence throughout 2008
and into early-2009.
P:\Mpls\23 MN\62\2362946\WorkFiles\ProjectManagement\ForGLWMO_04212008\Letter_Contract-Revised
SCOpe_April2l.doc Aprit 21, 2008 Version
