This year, six $500 scholarships <br />will be awarded to students who find an artistic way to express the importance <br />of water.:. <br />A new category of videoyraphy has been added this year. Students also <br />may enter photography, sculpture, drawing, mixed media and painting. <br />Each. piece of'art must be accompanied by a statement from the artist that <br />describes the work as it relates to the theme, Water is Life. <br />This year'sprogram has been expanded to include the southwest and <br />central regions of the state. Collaborating with Minnesota's Educational <br />Cooperative Service.Units, the Freshwater Society will offer the contest to <br />senior high students in he following regions: Southeast Service Cooperative <br />(Rochester), South Central Service Cooperative (Mankato), Northeast Service <br />Cooperative (Mountain Iron);: Metro Service Cooperative (seven county <br />Minneapolis/St. Paul area}, Lakes .Country Service Cooperative (Fergus Falls), <br />Resource Training and Solutions (St. Cloud) and SW/SC Service Cooperative <br />(Marshall). <br />'Each year the winning artwork :and all the semi finalists' entries are <br />exhibited at public venues, including the state Capitol.
