<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br />Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 25th day of October, 1993 at <br />7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following were present: Maschka, P. Johnson, Goedeke, Cushman, and V. Johnson, <br />and the following were absent: None. <br /> <br />Member Goedeke introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9006 <br /> <br />RESOLUTIO]~ IN SJIPPORT of r.PA}\!T ADDLICATION TO <br />BOARD OF GOVE~œNT INNOVATION AND COOPERATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in July 1990 the American with Disabilities Act was signed into law with the goal <br />of eliminating the exclusion of persons with disabilities from buildings, <br />participation and programs, receipt of services and employment; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville, Parks and Recreation Department, has conducted a self <br />evaluation of recreation programs and providing opportunities with handicaps; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department has discovered a need for <br />recreation and leisure services for people with disabilities, particularly children <br />8-15 years of age; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cities of Maplewood, Woodbury, Roseville, Little Canada, Oakdale, North <br />St. Paul and their respective school districts, met to talk about a collaborative <br />program for the entire East Metro Area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, sufficient funding and staffing time for the collaborative adaptive recreational <br />program are not available in city and school district budgets; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Roseville, in conjunction with other <br />cities in Ramsey and Washington Counties, and collaborating school districts, does hereby <br />support the collaborative efforts of the parks and recreation departments, community education <br />and special education programs, to study, establish and provide programs for persons with <br />disabilities; and <br /> <br />BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Roseville strongly supports the <br />application submitted to the Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation requesting funds <br />to make this important and timely study possible. <br />
