~n
._ ~
Dear Supporters of Home Rule for Roseville: -
We were successful in getting almost twice the number of signatures
(800) necessary to require that a home rule charter commission be
appointed by the Ramsey County District Court.
Attached is a copy of the original petition along with a proposed list of
Articles of Home Rule Charter that we suggest. Your help is now
needed to show the commission that citizens want Home Rule.
~-remember, a home rule charter does not involve changing all the minor
day-to-day operations or ordinances of the city, etc. It does not
eliminate or replace the present council. Rather, it simply gives citizens
some say in our local government, and places limits on what city
officials can do (currently it only takes 3 council members to make
major decisions, such as giving away city assets and borrowing
$millions for new buildings, etc.).
Home Rule will be similar to having a constitution that will protect us
from excesses, just as the United States Constitution keeps our national
leaders from going too far astray.
The next meeting is Wednesday, December 15, at 7.00 P.M. at city
hall. This is the meeting the commission has set aside to hear from
i proponents of a home rule charter. WE NEED YOUR PRESENCE,
COMMENTS, AND SUPPORT AT THIS MEETING TO SHOW
WE WA T A HOME RULE CHARTER! /~ /
Vf~
Q~ t"l~SE - S PER k out= SPEAK ~P
~ c ~F Pr ~2 T E ~ 1
L~~ ~ ~~'``Z'`
