EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING ®F THE <br />VARIANCE BOA OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Variance Board of the City of <br />Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota, was held on the 3rd day of August, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. <br />The following members were present: Chair Bakeman and Members Traynor and <br />Doherty. <br />Variance Board Member Traynor introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />VB SOLUTION N0.25 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING A REQUEST BY TAMMY JENKINS, D.V.M, <br />(ST. FRANCIS ANIMAL AND BIRD HOSPITAL) <br />FOR A VARIANCE TO SECTION 1009.03M (GROUND SIGNS) <br />OF THE ROSEVILLE CITY CODE TO ALLOW THE REPLACEMENT OF A <br />GROUND/MONUMENT SIGN WITHIN THE REQUIRED 15 FOOT SETBACK ON <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1227 LARPENTEUR AVE. W. (PF3661). <br />EREAS, Tammy Jenkins (St. Francis Animal and Bird Hospital) has requested a <br />VARIANCE to Section 1009.03M (Ground Signs) of the Roseville City Code to allow the <br />replacement of an pre-existing ground/monument sign within the required 15 foot setback; and <br />WHEREAS, the Jenkins property is located at 1227 Larpenteur Ave. W, and is legally <br />described as: (Attached) <br />WHEREAS, City Code Section 1009.03M states: Ground signs shall be limited to a <br />maximum of 8 feet (8') in height. Ground signs may be set back from street rights of way a <br />distance equal to one-half (1/2) of the setback for a pylon sign in the same zoning district. <br />Therefore a sign of 8 feet in height and up to 100 s.f. in size, could be set to within 15 feet of the <br />right of way line without a variance.1009.08E limits pylon and ground signs to a maximum size <br />of 100 sq. ft. in a General Business District, and <br />WHEREAS, in 1992, the City approved a sign permit to allow the construction of the <br />Animal Hospital sign along Larpenteur Avenue side of the building and associated site <br />improvements, and <br />WHEREAS, the applicant proposes a new ground sign to be located the sign 6 feet from <br />the south property line. This request for a replacement sign is similar to other pre-existing sign <br />variances approved but it does requires a VARIANCE of 9 feet in accordance with Section 1013 <br />of the Roseville City Code; and <br />1 <br />
