WHEREAS, in 1989, the City approved a sign permit to allow the construction of the <br />Edina Realty Sign along the Terrace Drive side of the building and associated site improvements, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the applicant proposes to locate the sign 10 feet from the east right of way <br />line. The proposed 10 foot setback also does not violate a 10 foot city easement along the <br />property line. This request is similar to those sign variances approved but it does requires a <br />VARIANCE of 5 feet in accordance with Section 1013 of the Roseville City Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Planner has concluded that "hardships" are present and support can <br />be given to deviate from the strict requirements of the Roseville City Code; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL,VEI), by the Roseville Variance Board, to approve <br />a 5 foot VARIANCE to Section 1000.03M (Sign Code -Minimum Dimensional Requirements <br />for ground signs) of the Roseville City Sign Code for Edina Realty, 2803 Lincoln Drive, allowing <br />the relocation of an existing ground sign, subject to the following conditions: <br />1. The edge of the pylon sign (not the pylon post) must be set back a minimum of 10 <br />feet from the property line and not within the easement adjacent to Lincoln Drive. <br />2. The sign must be placed on the south side of the east driveway. Existing free <br />standing tenant signs along the north edge of the east driveway must be removed. <br />3. The ground sign height must be limited to a maximum height of 8 feet above <br />grade. <br />4. The applicant must locate and expose the property corner markers adjacent to <br />Lincoln Drive, prior to the issuance of a sign permit. <br />5. The ground sign may be internally or externally lit. When externally lit, the light <br />source may not be visible from Lincoln Drive. <br />6. The sign base (ground) must include some landscaping, including low growing <br />shrubs and\or perennials. <br />7. The variance (if granted) will expire within 6 months of its approval if a sign <br />permit is not issued (Section 1013.03). <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Variance <br />Board Member Traynor and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor: <br />Bakeman, Traynor and Doherty <br />and the following voted against: None <br />WHEREUPON said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />2 <br />
