Department Approval <br />Item Description <br />BACKGROUND <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Manager Reviewed <br />� I� <br />DAT E:1 /08/01 <br />ITEM NO: C-1 <br />Agenda Section: <br />Consent <br />Authorizations To Seek Donations for Various Parks and Recreation <br />Special Events <br />The City Council established a policy in February of 1997 requiring Council approval of <br />formal written request for donations to the City. The City has annually requested support <br />from community groups and businesses for several special events. A typical letter of <br />request is attached. The activities that the authorization is requested to seek donations for <br />include: <br />Volunteer Recognition Banquet -- January-February <br />Winterfest-- February <br />Spring Celebration -- March-May <br />Rosefest -- June-July <br />Taste of Roseville-- August -September <br />Halloween Event -- October <br />Holiday Event - December <br />New Year's Eve Event- December <br />POLICY <br />The following is the City of Roseville's policy regarding the solicitation of donations. To <br />avoid conflict of interest or appearance of impropriety, the solicitation of donations by City <br />staff is not permitted except by: <br />■ authorization by the City Council and/or. <br />■ distribwtion of an annual Roseville Donor Opportunity Program in the <br />February issue of the City Newsletter. <br />The Council approves all the donations received. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br />Approved donations for these events will result in a budget reduction. <br />
