5//oi
G-1
Recognition
PRESS RELEASE (provide by the U.S. Fire Administration) Fire Chief Gasaway
Emmitsburg, MD — Richard B. Gasaway, Chief of the Roseville Fire Department recently
attended the 13' Executive Fire Officer Program Graduate Symposium held at the U. S.
Fire Administration's National Fire Academy (NFA).
This annual event brought together over 170 chief fire executives from the United States,
Canada, Australia, South Africa, and Sweden to discuss various facets of fire service
leadership. It also offered participants an opportunity to exchange information on issues
such as managing organizational change with other participants and experts in the field.
Gasaway and 49 other chief fire executives from around the world were honored at a
ceremony as members of the 2000 graduating class. This prestigious four-year academic
program requires senior fire officials to meet stringent professional criteria for selection.
Participants must also complete four applied research projects.
There are more than 5,100 chief tire officers throughout Minnesota. Only 22 of those
officers have graduated from the Executive Fire Officer Program since it's inception in
1983.
