5/�/oi <br />G-1 <br />Recognition <br />PRESS RELEASE (provide by the U.S. Fire Administration) Fire Chief Gasawa�y <br />Emmitsburg, MD — Richard B. Gasaway, Chief of the Roseville Fire Department recently <br />attended the 13�' Executive Fire Officer Program Graduate Symposium held at the U. S. <br />Fire Administration's National Fire Academy (NFA). <br />This annual event brought together over 170 chief fire executives from the United States, <br />Canada, Australia, South Africa, and Sweden to discuss various facets of fire service <br />leadership. It also offered participants an opportunity to exchange information on issues <br />such as managing organizational change with other participants and experts in the field. <br />Gasaway and 49 other chief fire executives from around the world were honored at a <br />ceremony as members of the 2000 graduating class. This prestigious four-year academic <br />program requires senior fire officials to meet stringent professional criteria for selection. <br />Participants must also complete four applied research projects. <br />There are more than 5,100 chief tire officers throughout Minnesota. Only 22 of those <br />officers have graduated from the Executive Fire Officer Program since it's inception in <br />1983. <br />
