REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department ApprovaL Manager Reviewed: <br />�l � <br />� <br />DATE: OS/21/O1 <br />C-3 <br />Agenda Section: <br />Consent <br />Item Description: Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association Request for Premises Permit <br />BACKGROUND <br />The previously licensed bingo groups comprised of : Roseville Area Youth Hockey, The North <br />Suburban Youth Association, the Ladyslipper Chapter of the American Business Women's <br />Association, and the Midway Speedskating Club, were left without a bingo location in late 2000. <br />The bingo location, owned by the Knights of Columbus, sold their site to the Sunrise <br />Development Corporation for senior housing. <br />Since the vacation of the Hall by the groups, their premises permit to conduct bingo was no <br />longer valid. <br />A new location (the former HOM Furniture site) was approved by the City Council in January of <br />200 L The State Licensing has been underway during the past 5 months and the groups are now <br />at point where the City Council must approve the issuance of new premises permits. <br />Policy Implications <br />The Council has indicated strong positive support to the youth Bingo groups during the past year <br />as the sale and redevelopment of the Knights site progressed. The issuance of these permits is <br />within the policy direction of the Council. <br />Financial Implications <br />The City receives approximately $57,000 per year for ordinance enforcement and another <br />$57,000 annually as a 10% donation toward the Roseville Community Fund. <br />COUNCII, ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion approving an application for Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association request for a <br />Premises Permit at 2525 Snelling Ave North. <br />
