REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: OS/21/O1 C-4 Department ApprovaL Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: � �� Consent Item Description: 1�Iidway Speed Skating Club Request for Premises Permit BACKGROUND The previously licensed bingo groups comprised of : Roseville Area Youth Hockey, The North Suburban Youth Association, the Ladyslipper Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, and the Midway Speedskating Club, were left without a bingo location in late 2000. The bingo location, owned by the Knights of Columbus, sold their site to the Sunrise Development Corporation for senior housing. Since the vacation of the Hall by the groups, their premises permit to conduct bingo was no longer valid. A new location (the former HOM Furniture site) was approved by the City Council in January of 200 L The State Licensing has been underway during the past 5 months and the groups are now at point where the City Council must approve the issuance of new premises permits. Policy Implications The Council has indicated strong positive support to the youth Bingo groups during the past year as the sale and redevelopment of the Knights site progressed. The issuance of these permits is within the policy direction of the Council. Financial Implications The City receives approximately $57,000 per year for ordinance enforcement and another $57,000 annually as a 10% donation toward the Roseville Community Fund. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Motion approving an application for Midway Speed Skating Club request for a Premises Permit at 2525 Snelling Ave North.
