Department Approval:
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
1Tanager Reviewed:

Item Description: No parking resolutions- Centre Point Drive
DATE: OS/21/Ol
ITEM NO.:F-1
Agenda Section:
Reports
Background: We have received a request from property owners and City staffto investigate the
parking on the south end of Centre Point Drive. The road is constructed to a width of 36 feet,
and widens for turn movements at Cleveland Avenue. City standards a11ow parking on both sides
when a road is built to this width.
There are a couple of factors in our support of this proposal. The first being fire safety, the Fire
Department is concerned that the ladder fire truck and a car could not concurrently pass through the
south curve when cars are parked on both sides of the streets. The second is from a business park
functionality standpoint. The esting buildings should hae adequate off- street parking. Overflow
parking onto City streets can detract from the overall business park appearance as well as make the
roads less convenient to use and create a nuisance for customers and workers, especially in the
winter.
Policy Objectives: It has been our practice in addressing neighborhood parking restrictions, to
ask the City Council to consider the request and pass no parking resolutions.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
Approval of the attached resolution prohibiting parking on the east and north side of Centre Point
Drive.
Prepared by: Debra Bloom
