Community Participation and Consuttation Policy <br />PURPOSE <br />WhiIC the City Council is cicctcd to represent [hc community in making choices of public safety, public <br />works and the providing of general governmental SCrviCCS, �e Council will make a every effort to involve <br />the community in �� decision-making process where major community interests arc concerned and <br />«•hCrt; s[3tc and local statutes permit. <br />It has been the practice of the Council, and «•i►1 continuc to be, to appoint commissions, task forces, and <br />other work groups from the communitti� to esplorc and present ideas and altcmativcs with regard to issues, <br />«�hich arc of importancc to thc community <br />In addition, any cxpcnditurc of funds in cxccss of $3 million of local propCrty' tas dollars and t�'hich <br />i�n�olvcs communit�' facilitics, ���ill bc brought to [hc community in thc Form of a rcfcrcndum <br />sco��: <br />The scope of thc policy is to actively involve thC community in thosC major facilities issues which include <br />the addition of parks, pathways, public facilities, zoning, ncighborttood dcvclopmcnt issues, and any other <br />arcas dccmcd appropnatc <br />POLICY <br />The Cit� of Rosev�Ile ��'�l� endeavor to involvc representattve crtizen groups, including student <br />representation, in the discussion and advising on issues which require more input as to the wishes and <br />needs of the community than can be provided by staff, consultants, or the City Council.
