���r 1L■ •■J <br />Request for Council Action <br />Date: October 8, 2001 <br />Item Number: c- 6 <br />1�Ianager Approval Agenda Section <br />J���� Consent <br />!` <br />Item Description: <br />Extend the Advertising Date for Citizen Advisory Commission Vacancies: <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Back�round <br />On August 27, 2001 the City Council directed staff to advertise to fill the four vacancies on the Human <br />Rights Commission as the result of recent resignations. <br />Following the City Council action, staff advertised the vacancies for thirty days beginning September 5, <br />2001 through October 3, 200 L To date, staff received one applicant. <br />Staff requests that the City Council e�tend the vacancies advertisement through November 14, 2�1• <br />Policv Implications: <br />Last November the City Council waived the appointment process set forth in Resolution 9372 (see attached) <br />and filled commission vacancies through a ballot process. <br />Staff will seek direction as to which process the City Council selects to use to fill these vacancies. <br />Council Action Rec�uested <br />Motion to approve the e�tension of the advertising to fill four vacancies on the Human Rights Commission <br />through November 14,200 1. <br />Attachments: Community Participation and Consultation Policy <br />Resolution 9372 <br />
