Department Approval: <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />1�Ianager <br />DATE: 12/ 17/O l <br />ITEM NO.: E - 3 <br />Reviewed: <br />������� <br />�� / <br />� <br />Agenda Section: <br />Grganizational Business <br />Item Description: Scheduling of Joint Work Session with the Lauderdale City Council <br />Regarding the Proposed Reconstruction of Trunk Highway 280. <br />Background: Mn/DOT is proposing a number of alternatives for the reconstruction of a portion <br />of Trunk Highway 280. This reconstruction will impact the communities of Roseville and <br />Lauderdale. <br />Because of the mutual interests of both communities, the City of Roseville scheduled a joint <br />work session with the Lauderdale City Council in the Lauderdale City Hall on August 2 1,200 1. <br />The outcome of this meeting was that Mn/DOT would explore potential alignments for the <br />project and impact on surrounding properties. The Councils felt every effort should be made not <br />to lose federal funding. <br />Because of time restrictions on the federal funding available to Mn/DOT, they are looking for <br />agreement between both cities as to the alignment of the new construction. Mn/DOT is prepared <br />to present potential alignments and related impacts at a joint meeting between Councils. <br />Mn/DOT needs to move forward with development of this project by February in order to stay on <br />track. <br />It would be possible to schedule this work session for the Council's regular meeting, Monday, <br />January 14, at 6:00 p.m. at Roseville City Hall. <br />RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: <br />Motion to schedule a joint work session with the Lauderdale City Council on January 14, 2002, <br />at 6:00 p.m. at Roseville City Hall for the purpose of hearing Mn/DOT present alternatives for <br />the reconstruction of Trunk Highway 280. <br />Prepared by: Duane Schwartz <br />
