Date:01/28/02
VI
To: Roseville City Council
From: Vicky Lorenz
2726 Churchill St.
cc: Neal Beets
You asked for feedback/comments regarding the change in Rules and Procedures. Well
here are my comments. I am not going to comment much on the actual Rules because I
don't feel that you will listen to what I have to say. Mayor you commented that you had
listened to what feedback you received and had made changes based on that feedback I
feel that you conveniently censored your listening and only heard what you wanted to
hear because what I read and heard was that people didn't support the proposed changes
at all and yet most of the changes were passed. Again why should I comment when I
don't feel like my input will be listened to.
I do want to comment on the behavior of the council, specifically that of the Mayor and
Councilman Schroeder at the Jan 7the meeting. How truly disappointing. Mayor are you
always going to pile up the comments and questions so that you can in the end decide not
to address any of those comments or questions? Councilman Schroeder never did
address or respond to the myriad of statements. Mayor are you going to always add
discussion on items that are to be voted on immediately without further discussion? It
seems that we have a dictatorship running Roseville because it is the Mayor who will
dictate appointments, seating arrangements, voting order, statements made to the press
and how to vote on items during the council meeting along with whatever else I am
forgetting at this time. I thought that there were 5 people to represent the citizens of
Roseville, not one. Councilman Schroeder you have never answered the basic question
of why these changes were suggested in the first place. Your non response to a11 of the
questions and comments at the council meeting just leads to suspicion. I don't feel this is
the way to prove to the citizens of Roseville that you are a self-thinking capable person
but that you are there only to do someone else's bidding. I am also wondering why the
items that did not pass needed to be on the next agenda for further discussion. If an item
is voted down, then it should be dropped.
Thank you for the opportunity to voice my opinion, next time I hope that there won't be
such strict rules on how to have my input heard. I would have preferred to have a
conversation with a member of the council rather than needing to write my thoughts and
submit them to the City Manager.
