The LMC's policy <br />development process begins with the formation of the LMC's four policy committees. Now is <br />your opportunity to help the LMC establish its legislative policies and direct its legislative <br />program for the coming two-year period. <br />As the member of an LMC policy committee, you will be volunteering to participate in a total of <br />three or four policy committee meetings during the months of July, August and September. The <br />attached schedule will show you the dates and times that have been tentatively set aside for these <br />meetings. These meetings will be held at the LMC offices in St. Paul. The policy development <br />process will conclude with the LMC's annual Policy Adoption Conference on November 22, <br />2002, where the full membership will ratify the policy committee recommendations. <br />The four intergovernmental relations policy committees, which will deal with both state and <br />federal issues are: <br />IMPROVING LOCAL ECONOMIES <br />p Growth Management and Land Use <br />C> Boundary Adjustment <br />� Housing <br />q Transportation <br />� Economic Development and <br />Redevelopment <br />b Telecommunications and Information <br />Systems <br />IMPROVING CITY SERVICE DELIVERY <br />p Environmental Mandates <br />� Elections <br />b Ethics <br />� Open Meetings <br />q Government Innovation and <br />Cooperation <br />� Public Safety <br />IMPROVING THE FISCAL FUTURE PERSONNEL SERVICES <br />OF CI'TIES b Personnel <br />p Financial Management of Cities b Pensions <br />p Properry Tax b Labor Relations <br />� State Aid Programs b Data Practices <br />AN EQUAL OPPOR.TUNITY;/AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONEMPLOYER <br />
