Financial implications: In October 2000, the City Council authorized up to $60,000 to
complete this project. $40,000 was allocated from the 2000 Contingency Fund and $20,000
from the approved 2000 budget. We are still within that budget.
Policy implications: This is the first draft of this framework study. The taskforce is
interested in feedback from the City Council regarding this project. We have attached a letter
from the Taskforce regarding their intentions for the corridor.
It is anticipated that this plan will provide the framework for streetscape and design elements
incorporated into the Twin Lake Redevelopment plan and Twin Lakes Parkway. The taskforce
drew on this and other plans to make their recommendations.
Schedule: This is the first draft of this framework study. We will be incorporating comments
received, bringing it back to the Planning Commission and City Council for final approval and
adoption into the City's Comprehensive Plan some time in March or April.
County Road C is proposed to be reconstructed in two segments -- I35W to Snelling Avenue in
2003 and Snelling Avenue to Oord Street in 2004. These projects are partially funded with
federal transportation monies that must be encumbered no later than 2003 and 2004.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
No action required at this time, the main goal of this work session item is to provide feedback
to DSU and the taskforce members.
Prepared by: Debra Bloom
