Department Approval Item Description BACKGROUND REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Manager Reviewed: �� DATE: 03/04/02 ITEM NO: VIII. B. Agenda Section: Consent Approval of Revised Master Plan for Rosebrook Park The staff, neighbors, community groups and the Parks and Recreation Commission have reviewed the past, current and future uses of Rosebrook Park. Attached is the proposed revised Master Plan for Rosebrook. This is a re-make of a park that has been in existence since the late 1960's. Rosebrook Park is classified as a Community Park in the Roseville Parks and Recreation System Plan. As a part of the Park Improvement Analysis (PIP) and the Parks and Recreation Infrastructure Committee Report, several areas and amenities need to be revamped. The principals involved in the re-design include: . New play equipment was needed that required more space because of new safety requirements. (COMPLETED) . The major activity spaces needed to be revamped because of deteriorating turf and thus an opportunity to reuse the space for activities more in demand was afforded. This is the plan to turn the adult softball fields into two regulation softball fields. (PROJECT APPROVED) . Parking has been in short supply and the neighboring property (fitness club) is interested in an agreement to jointly build a new parking lot. This would provide space for approximately 30 spaces. The plan does allow for entrance to the new lot if the City does not reach agreement with the Fitness Club owner. . Basketball court that meets the new standard of not being on a parking lot that is currently the situation. . New tennis courts are needed. . The current standard is to put in a walking path where possible. . The wading pool would remain . A new park building would be constructed at a future date. . Additional landscaping would be added Two community meetings (May 2001 and January 2002) were held to review the plans and no objections have been received. POLICY OBJECTIVE The process for developing the Revised Rosebrook Park Master Plan is consistent with the Parks and Recreation System Plan. FINANCIAL IMPLICATION There are no costs associated with the approval of the revised master plan. Future costs would be approved on a project by project basis. STAFF RECOMMENDATION The Parks and Recreation Commission and staff recommend that the City Council approve the proposed Revised Master Plan for Rosebrook Park. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Motion adopting the proposed Revised Master Plan for Rosebrook Park.
