CITY OF LAUDERDALE <br />ASSESSMENT POLICY MANUAL <br />[See "Resolution Calling for Hearing on Proposed Assessments" attached <br />in the Appendix as Form 24] <br />Published Notice. The notice of the assessment hearing must be <br />published in the legal newspaper at least once, not less than two weeks <br />prior to the hearing. <br />Mailed Notice. The City Clerk must mail notice of the assessment hearing <br />to the owner of each parcel described in the assessment roll at least two <br />weeks prior to the hearing. For purposes of giving mailed notice, the <br />owners shall be those shown on the records of the county auditor, or in <br />any city where tax records are mailed by the City Treasurer. The mailed <br />notice must also include, in addition to the information required to be in the <br />published notice, the following information: <br />a.) the amount to be specially assessed against that particular lot, <br />piece, or parcel of land; <br />b.) adoption by the City Council of the proposed assessment may be <br />taken at the hearing; <br />c.) the right of the property owner to prepay the entire assessment and <br />the person to whom the prepayment must be made; <br />d.) whether partial prepayment of the assessment has been authorized <br />by ordinance; <br />e.) the time within which prepayment may be made without the <br />assessment of interest; and <br />f.) the rate of interest to accrue if the assessment is not prepaid within <br />the required time period. <br />[See "Affidavit of Mailing of Assessment Hearing Notice" attached in the <br />Appendix as Form 25A] <br />Adoption of Assessments. At the hearing or any adjournment thereof, the <br />City Council may adopt the assessments as proposed or adopt the <br />assessments with amendments. If the adopted assessment differs from <br />the proposed assessment, the City Clerk must mail the owner a notice <br />stating the amount of the adopted assessment. Owners must also be <br />notified by mail of any changes in interest rates or prepayment provisions <br />from those contained in the notice of the proposed assessment. <br />[See "Resolution Adopting Assessment" attached in the Appendix <br />as Form 26J <br />� <br />
