�" �ii �`� ,�� , � �:�. The seven member communities of the Coalition share more than just an association with Interstate 35W. They are part of a sub-regional setting that has been shaped by common geography, patterns of movement, economics and cultural connections. The Coalition communities are experiencing tremendous growth and change as more people choose to make the North Metro their home. Job opportunities are expanding as parcels across the seven communities are developed into job-rich employment hubs. The I-35W Coalition is also developing more transportation capacity. The housing stock is being rehabilitated to maintain marketability. Sustaining and improving the quality of life for residents and businesses is a goal of all cities involved. The Coalition has three livable community work areas: In order for the Coalition to successfully address these issues, the cities needed a way to illustrate issues, manage common data and display and market this information by location. Geographic Information Systems quickly moved to the forefront as a tool that could accomplish those goals, and has remained a focus of the work of the coalition. The next step for the Coalition is to implement sub-regional Year 2020 land use and transportation build-out projections that estimate growth for the cities in a regional context. 1. Build metropolitan towns. Strengthen and create physical, social and economic connections among member communities. 2. Redefine metropolitan competitiveness. Cooperative strategies position the sub-region to attract economic development and support a local economy that values and thrives in livable communities. 3. Ensure healthy neighborhoods. Build neighborhood infrastructure that supports individuals and families throughout their life cycles.
