North Metro 35W Coalition <br />The North Metro 35W Development Year 2001 in review: <br />During the past nine years of comparable records, the 35W <br />Coalition has experienced over $2.26 billion in new <br />investment, of which $473 million has been new commercial or <br />industrial development that translates into nearly 7.8 million <br />s.f. in new space (at $60/s.f.). Housing developers have also <br />been busy, adding 6,975 new housing units or about 775 new <br />households each year within the 7 city, 83 square mile area. <br />For the year 200.1: <br />♦ Building permits (8,235) were up 13.3% over 2000 and 17.7% over <br />the nine year average. <br />♦ Average value per permit (�43,200) was similar to 2000. <br />♦ Total new investment in the Coalition area was over �355.7 million, <br />up 12% from 2000, and up 41% from the nine year average. <br />♦ New commercial/industrial construction was down by 5% from 2000, <br />but still increased by more than 64% over the nine year average of <br />$53 million. <br />♦ Renovation of commerciaUindustrial space totaled $66 million, up <br />59% from 2000 and up 24% over the nine year average. <br />♦ Over 795 new housing units were constructed. The value of new <br />housing was down 9% compared to 2000.
